R.K. Durnwirth "As a 20 year old rising junior in the Industrial and Systems
Engineering department at Virginia Tech, I have worked towards many goals
within the past 2 years. However, one stands above the rest, taking first place
in the men’s open physique and the men’s college physique at the INBF Pro/Amature
Mr. /Mrs. Virginia 2013. This accomplishment would not have been remotely
possible without the incredible support of Nate and Kate Fitness. These two
individuals are truly exceptional people. Nate and Kate were there for me from
day one. Not a day went by that Nate or Kate did not personally check in with
me to make sure I was following their custom diet tailored to my specific
needs. While these two look the part and truly practice what they preach, they
also understand the science behind the supplements and nutrition that are vital
to an exceptional physique. Aside
from the rigorous diet and intense workouts, preparation for a show is as much
a physical battle as it is a mental one. Nate and Kate understand this and were
there to talk me through those tough days that I just wanted to quit. Nate and Kate each have multiple
achievements and awards behind them. Knowing that they too had experienced the
challenges that I was facing made me want to better myself day in and day out.
The passion and discipline that these two share pushed me to a new level and I

Coleman Lyttle "My name is Coleman Lyttle and I am a student at Virginia
Tech. I was a recent client of Nate Johnson and Katherine Cody, and they took
me to a level of fitness that I only before dreamt of as I looked through
fitness magazines. My fitness journey started in high school as a 6’2’’ 155
pound kid starting football and wanting to gain muscle. Over the next 4 years I
gained 45 pounds as I chased the dream of that “Elite athlete” figure. Once in college I always worked out
hard but never could attain more than an average athletic build despite
countless hours of work in the gym. Luckily I met Nate Johnson in the gym and
over the next couple months he inspired me to challenge myself to finally take
that next step to get the figure I thought just was seemingly untouchable. Nate
set a goal for me to compete in a bodybuilding show in the physique category. I
didn’t think it was possible but with Nate giving me the knowledge and guidance
of how vital diet is to your physique I slowly leaned all the tools necessary
to see those next level results. Over the next six weeks I did whatever Nate
said to do. I ate how he said and lifted how he showed me. Miraculously I
started seeing new results everyday, something I had been longing to see over
the last several months of plateauing in the gym. Training for the show, Nate
was there for me every step of the way, not just as a trainer but also as a
true friend. More than just giving me the tools to succeed, he was always there
for me. Whether it was a missed meal, feeling too tired to get to the gym or
just having a bad day and doubting myself, Nate somehow managed to always call
or text me seeing how I was doing or just to purely motivating me right when I
needed it the most. He was the force keeping me from giving up on myself.
Through the next couple weeks I discovered a new driving force and work ethic
in myself I never before had. Nate took me from not just an average built guy
to a top conditioned physique competitor, but from a coasting, distraught
college student scared of his future to a grounded scholar realizing anything
was possible when you truly put your mind to it. I competed in my first
physique show and took second overall. Nate and Kate were there for me every
second that day showing me what to do and instilling the confidence in me to do
it. For the first time in my life I looked in the mirror and was truly in awe
of the image that looked back at me. I will never forget the humbling journey
Nate and Kate coached me through. Ill hold the lessons I learned with me and
use my new fitness knowledge to lead a healthy and fit lifestyle until the day
I die. I can’t thank Nate and Kate enough for everything they did for me.

Andrea Long "I am a petite, 21-year-old, 5’4 female. I have been dating Andrew Jones, a knowledgeable power lifter (who is also featured on this blog) for about four years. For the past few years, I thought I led a pretty active lifestyle as I went to the gym 3 times a week, did a little cardio, chatted it up, and then left. I thought I was in pretty good shape about a year ago, so I decided to do the BodPod test, which gives you information about your body composition (fat muscle versus lean muscle). To put it mildly, I was extremely disappointed in my results. I tried all sorts of things to get rid of that extra fat, including fasted cardio and calorie counting, but nothing seemed to work. I was in the process of accepting the truth that I was just not ever going to be lean when I met Kate and Nate, who basically turned everything around.When my boyfriend and I first met Kat eand Nate, I was definitely intimidated; here is this power couple that looks fantastic and works their butts off. After getting to know them a little better, I mentioned to Kat a few times that I wanted get more fit but did not know exactly how to describe “fit” to her. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings, but realistically, I did not want to be a bodybuilder; I just wanted to be in shape. Because Kate and Nate’s goals were so different from mine, I thought that they wouldn’t be able to help me. I was so wrong.
One night, after a bad workout, I broke down in front of Andrew and Nate. I let all my emotions out, saying that I was tired of looking and feeling out of shape. To my surprise, Nate’s only comment was “I wish you had just asked for help sooner.” That was the end of my “workouts” and “dieting.” The next day, after Kate and Nate discussed my situation, they came to me with a plan. I told them honestly that I am terrible at dieting and it is extremely hard for me to stay motivated. All they said was, “trust us.” So, I did. They created a workout and diet plan that fit my needs, my schedule, my goals, and played to my strengths. It was my first time dealing with a serious diet, workout plan, and motivators.
Even though I didn’t think I could do it, Nate and Kate suggested I just try it for two weeks. After those two weeks, I saw results that not only made me want to continue my hard work, but encouraged me to work even harder. I have now been on Kat and Nate’s plan for about 6 weeks and I have come so far. Since I started working with them, I have lost about five pounds and have increased my muscle and strength. While these are extremely important results, the best result I have seen so far is my increase in confidence. Not only has Kat and Nate’s program changed the way I look, but it has changed the way I feel as well.
With Kate and Nate’s motivation, workout, and diet, and supportive, kind words from Andrew, I went from being out of shape and self-pitying, to a strong, confident, fit individual. I am even thinking about participating in a bikini competition in the spring! Kate and Nate have done so much for me, even on my bad workout days, they are always there supporting me and encouraging me.
